My photography fascination is fueled by an infinite combination of gear and camera settings that I play with to create new looks.

On the digital side, I love exploring the creative modes on my Olympus and Fujifilm bodies. And at the same time, analog provides another toy box full of goodies with its variety of films and vintage optics. But the real prize is realized with the convergence of these two worlds. It’s irresistible.

Before we journey too far into this wonderland, let’s take a look at some of the gear that’s involved. Then we’ll put it to use. Here are the basic components.

- An interchangeable lens digital camera.
- A vintage 35mm film single lens reflex camera.
- Two vintage prime lenses that fit the film camera.
- One lens adapter for the digital camera allowing those vintage lenses to be used on it too.
- A couple rolls of film.

Now here’s the thinking. Many digital photographers are curious about analog photography, but realize that they might not use the gear enough to justify the investment. In other words, if you buy a film camera and use it twice, was it worth it?
